Power Pick: TUMI Contine Weekender is the only travel bag I can count on
Welcome to Power Picks (opens in new tab). It's a monthly series that showcases the things that help us navigate our lives, empower ourselves, and simply get through each day. We hope that by sharing what makes us feel great, you will feel great too.
Let me be the first to admit that I am not a light traveler. Whether I am rushing to a daily meeting in town or going on a long trek, I am a maximalist at heart and cannot leave my essentials behind just to save space. So I made it my mission to find a comfortable tote bag with enough compartments for all my essentials: the TUMI Contine Weekender (opens in new tab).
Now my favorite travel item, the Contine Weekender, made of water-resistant and recycled nylon, is part of TUMI's (opens in new tab) Voyageur collection. It is a medium-sized bag with a square shape, leather-trimmed shoulder strap, and double-zip entry that allows it to be used as a roomy tote bag. What I was most impressed with was the abundance of compartments hidden inside the bag. For example, a roomy, low-profile pocket that can easily fit a laptop without taking up too much space. There are multiple zippered compartments, both inside and out, to hold both my electronics (goodbye, tangled wires) and my trusty chocolate bar. And the double-zipper bottom compartment is just the right size for a spare pair of shoes.
Every time I use this bag, I wonder why I didn't buy it sooner. I have traveled with a number of tote bags and always regret having them because they are either too heavy or too full. However, the Contine Weekender has a removable and adjustable crossbody strap that I can easily switch to when I need extra support, and the five metal feet on the bottom of the bag reassure me that the bag will not get ruined when placed on the ground They give me peace of mind that the bag won't get ruined when I put it on the ground.
This impeccable craftsmanship is found throughout TUMI's Voyageur collection. Tumi is also committed to sustainability and innovation, and it is this idea that led to the inclusion of recycled materials in the Voyageur collection. Marie Claire is always looking for more sustainable purchases, so it makes sense to complete my collection and purchase a matching crossbody. (You need a place to put your passport, right?
