Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not 'cold shoulder' at Frogmore retreat, royal experts say

As you probably already know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were recently evicted from their home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England.

Since then, commentators have criticized King Charles' decision as a terrible move, both familial and public relations-wise, but royal expert Christine Ross believes it is purely pragmatic rather than an attack on the Sussex couple.

"The story about the change of royal residence seems cruel and ill-timed, but it appears to be a logistical and purely logical development," Ross told "Marie Claire" on April 6.

"It has been a bit of a PR nightmare for the royal family, but I imagine this was a decision made at the beginning of the New Year and it has now been carried out."

The expert added, "Meghan and Harry moved out of Frogmore Cottage and settled in the US full time, so they did not have to maintain a UK residence."

"We are also told that they were offered a comfortable apartment at Buckingham Palace, so they were certainly not left out in the cold. Their stay at Buckingham Palace further enhances their security and safety, which is their primary concern."

Ross is right: privacy concerns are one of the main issues people have found in evictions. The Sussexes were no longer entitled to publicly funded police protection in the UK, so they relied on the Windsor Estate's royal security organization to keep their family safe while in the UK. But as experts say, Buckingham Palace offers the same level of protection.

Still, according to one source who spoke to royal expert Omid Scobie, Harry and Meghan felt that Frogmore was a "family home."
