Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly want to attend coronation but are negotiating terms

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, but have so far declined to say whether they will attend.

Apparently, this is not because they enjoy playing with the emotions of nosy people like me, but because they have not really made a decision and will not make one until they have found a series of compromises with the king and the royal family.

Their first task was to get their son Archie's birthday recognized.

"Archie's birthday falls on May 6, the day of the coronation, and the Sussexes want the royal family to acknowledge it," one source OK! "The Sussexes are asking that some sort of celebration or acknowledgement be included in the day's plans so that his fourth birthday does not blend into the memorable occasion."

Following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the Sussexes were apparently offered an apartment at Buckingham Palace, but OK! sources say they are instead seeking to stay with Princess Eugenie and her family at Frogmore. (Eugenie has taken over the house from the Sussexes.)

"They want the children to spend time with other family members, especially their cousin August, who is about Lilibet's age. Both couples are very close and are eager for the children to get along," one source told OK! (It is unclear if this is the same as the first source.)

The source added that the Sussexes reportedly hope to join the Buckingham Palace balcony on the day. This could be a real sticking point, they said, because "the palace has narrowed the balcony down to only current members of the royal family." Harry and Meghan are eager that they should be part of that special family moment."

Last but not least, the California-based couple need to know that they and their children will be safe when they return to the UK

"There is still litigation between the Sussexes and the Home Office over their security. The couple want increased security during their stay in the UK and this needs to be resolved before they attend the coronation," the source said.

Seems like a lot to be resolved in less than two months, especially considering the relationship between the Sussexes and their families. Sigh.
