Zoe Saldana, cast member of "Avatar: World of Water" (nominated for Best Picture), dominated the red carpet at the Academy Awards with a stunning makeup look that did not disappoint. Saldana's makeup artist, Vera Steinberg, gave us an exclusive look at the actress' minimalist look for the star-studded event.

"I loved playing with different shades of Chanel this week to find the perfect shade to achieve a natural look," says Steinberg. 'We blended colors and picked a palette that would work with the dress. It was perfect."

To achieve a feminine, effortless look, Steimberg used Chanel's Les 4 Rouges Eau et Jeux eyeshadow and blush palette in tan dress to bring the dress' natural blush color to the cheeks and eyes. To balance the color of the dress, she used Chanel Stylo You Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Eau Rose on the waterline and Chanel Ombre Première Lac Long Wear Liquid Eyeshadow in Desert Wind, Vastones, Quartz Rose) and blended onto the lids. Says Steimberg, "To complement her romantic, sophisticated look, I chose makeup accordingly."

For the lips, she paired Chanel Le Crayon Reveal Long-Wear Lip Pencil in Nude Bloom with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color in Intuitive.

Hair kept out of the face was inspired by a Fendi gown. I wanted a sophisticated, easy look that complemented Zoe's gorgeous Fendi gown," says hairstylist Mara Roszak. The dress is form-fitting but still soft and delicate, so we wanted the hairstyle to reflect that, to be effortless and ethereal." After cleansing her hair, Rozak smoothed out frizz and added shine with RŌZ santa lucia styling oil, then blow-dried with a medium-sized boar bristle round brush.

When trying this effortless style at home, Steimberg suggests a "less is more" approach. A small amount of foundation, some highlighter and bronzer for contouring, minimal mascara and soft color, and you're ready to go.
