The Academy Awards were held in grand style this year. The red carpet for this legendary Hollywood event, the most important night in the movie industry, was second to none. Nominees, presenters, and other A-listers were dressed to the nines. But just as the pre-show carpet was coming to an end, Lady Gaga appeared in a Versace gown that had just walked the runway a few days earlier, and by a supermodel at that!

Gaga's assertive gown featured a sheer, boned bodice throughout and a drop-waist satin A-line skirt, accented by a delicate gold belt with the brand's iconic insignia. The see-through bodice was lowered at the back, leading to a dramatic train.

Previous Oscar winners (and nominees tonight!) accessorized her gown with a chunky silver choker and matching bijoux bracelet. A bold red lip and rich smoky eyes gave her a touch of Old Hollywood glamour. Her bleach blonde hair was slicked back into a classic updo, as was the rest of her look.

If this styling looks familiar, that's because Gigi Hadid wore the exact same dress on the runway of Versace's Fall/Winter 2023 show a few days earlier. Hadid's runway beauty look, however, was quite understated. Instead of full-fledged makeup and hair, Hadid's show vibe was characterized by wavy hair that flared out behind her as she walked. Strong liner and fresh skin showed off California's cool high-low.

Gaga's gowns were in stark contrast to the other looks on the carpet, which included a number of icy white gowns, like the look of fellow Versace wearer Ariana DeBose. When colors did make an appearance, they were bright pinks like Stephanie Huw and Hong Chau's, or fiery shades of red and orange like Salma Hayek's and Sandra Oh's. Salma Hayek and Sandra Oh wore them.
