Zendaya Responds to Fans' Calls to Bring Rihanna and Tom Holland to the Super Bowl Stage
At halftime of Sunday's Super Bowl, Rihanna casually announced her second pregnancy and put on a shocking show, but did not call in guest stars like previous performers.
There were a couple of celebrities that fans especially wanted to see on stage that day: Tom Holland and Zendaya. [Holland performed a lip-sync battle to Rihanna's "Umbrella" in 2017, competing with then-star and now girlfriend Zendaya, who performed Bruno Mars' "24K Magic."
Holland won hands down by taking himself incredibly seriously. His performance was nothing short of an athletic feat, performing all kinds of squats while wearing PVC shorts and somehow managing to look really graceful as well. [While he was performing, Zendaya couldn't hide her surprise, dropping her jaw and pulling her hands to either side of her face in what has since become the iconic reaction face.
Anyway, after the Super Bowl, Zendaya posted a still from Rihanna's show on her Instagram Stories and added a still from the Lip Sync Battle reaction face (above), clearly claiming how amazing Riri's performance was.
But at the same time, Z was probably referring to the many requests from fans for her and Holland to guest on stage.
Before the show, fans tried to reveal Tom Daya's cameo on Twitter, unfortunately to no avail.
"We could have it all #FentyBowl #Rihanna," one wrote along with a clip of a lip sync battle.
"Rihanna took out Tom Holland and Zendaya during the umbrella challenge," another fan said. [Rihanna opened the Super Bowl halftime with an umbrella, Tom Holland danced a dance number, Zendaya appeared, Zendaya started playing Replay, and Iyaz came on stage and played a version of Replay," he tweeted.
Well. That certainly would have been a big deal.
