Madonna Addresses "Ageism and Misogyny" Experienced After Grammy Appearance

Women, it seems, can never catch a break.

At Sunday's Grammy Awards, the legendary Madonna presented the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance to Sam Smith and Kim Petras.

This should have been an incredibly cool moment for all involved, but instead the trolls (and tabloids) chose to focus on Madonna's appearance.

Thankfully, Madonna is not one to take criticism lying down, and she fired back with a strongly worded Instagram post using footage of her playing ball backstage at the Grammys.

"It was an honor to be introduced," she wrote. [Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammy Awards. I wanted to give her the final award for Album of the Year, but I thought it was more important to introduce the first trans female artist to perform at the Grammys! Besides, she won a Grammy!" !!!

"Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech about giving thanks for the fearless attitude of artists like Sam and Kim, many people only talk about the close-up photos of me that the press photographers took with their long lens cameras that would distort anyone's face! I chose to do that!"

"Madonna won a Grammy for her work.

Madonna was upset by the event, but not surprised.

"Once again, I was caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in," she wrote.

"A world that refuses to celebrate a woman past the age of 45 and feels the need to punish her if she remains strong-willed, hardworking and adventurous."

"I have never and will never apologize for the creative choices I have made or the way I look or dress. Since the beginning of my career I have been undermined by the media and I understand that this is all an ordeal.

"In the words of Beyoncé, 'You-won't-break-my-soul,'

"I will continue to be disruptive - to push boundaries - to stand up to patriarchy - and most of all to enjoy my life. I look forward to it.

"Bow down to the bitches!" [Madonna's famous friends certainly did.

Supermodel Barbara Fialho said, "My queen! In the silence, the queen spoke so much, you guys couldn't even hear it!"

DJ Honey Dijon said, "What an honor and a blessing it is to be in your presence. You are so powerful and I have so much love and respect for you."[31
