Rihanna's Super Bowl paycheck is lower than expected
Rihanna earns an estimated $90 million per concert tour, but despite the fact that her Super Bowl halftime performance is one of the most watched events in the country, she gets paid very little. Do they not have her money?
Here's why: according to the Independent, Super Bowl halftime performers are not paid, and the National Football League only covers their travel and expenses. (For example, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira's performance in 2020 would cost the NFL $13 million.)
Nevertheless, an NFL representative told The Independent that the NFL "covers all costs associated with the show and pays union fees to the halftime performers." In other words, Rihanna (and, perhaps, hopefully! her back-up dancers) didn't earn nothing for the privilege of performing at the Super Bowl, but they earned far less than the fee she would normally demand.
Still, as The Independent points out, the singer and entrepreneur is not exactly struggling, with an estimated net worth of about $1.7 billion, thanks in part to the success of her Fenty lingerie and beauty empire.
Despite not being a huge payday for Lili, her performance was a great spectacle for us. Not only did she try to cram her entire music catalog into a 13-minute show, but she announced her second pregnancy in the most Rihanna-esque way ever: by showing a baby bump on stage.
The superstar and her partner ASAP Rocky had their first son in May 2022.
