Tracee Ellis Ross Reveals She Has No Children: 'They Must Be Where They Should Be'
Tracee Ellis Ross appeared on the "We Can Do Hard Things" podcast, hosted by Glennon Doyle, for a much needed conversation about fertility and what it means to be a woman, defined by women themselves rather than patriarchal expectations.
Ross, 50, spoke candidly about being childless, going through menopause, and how she feels about the term "fertility" these days, which was incredibly moving.
She read from her journal: "I feel the strength to make children drain from my body. Sometimes I feel funny, as if there is a big sale going on in my womb and someone is shouting, "All things must go."
She continued My femininity? Because I have been so well programmed by the water in which we all swim, by the water in which we are all served. And yet that power that I was told I must use was not used.
Ross, who no longer reads, added: "The ability to have children was based on me. "The ability to bear children is leaving me. I don't even agree that it means "female,"" and thanked the trans community for helping her understand that the definition of gender we are taught is much stricter than reality.
Regarding her lack of children, the actress said she was "not heartbroken, but grateful to be able to look at it with curiosity."
She continued, "

The daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross, Ross is known for her television appearances on "Black-ish" and "Girlfriends" and is the founder of the black hair care line Pattern Beauty.
