Ryan Reynolds, if this "Spirited Away" soundtrack song is nominated, will be happy to sing it at the Academy Awards and "embarrass" himself.
[Ryan Reynolds is a generous man.
He has said that if his song "Good Afternoon" from the film "Spirited Away" is nominated for an Academy Award, he will put aside his pride and perform it at the March 12 awards ceremony.
"Good Afternoon," which Reynolds and Will Ferrell performed in the acclaimed film, is up for an Oscar nomination, and Variety asked lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and Reynolds about it.
Paul said of Reynolds and Ferrell, "It will be great fun to see them on stage."
The Deadpool actor said, "I'm not thinking about that," adding, "Look, if this song gets nominated for an Oscar, the least I can do is show up on that stage and embarrass myself."
Pasek added, "If this song is fortunate enough to be considered by everyone, I would love nothing more than to see those guys perform on stage at the Academy Awards." He added, "I think it's the funniest thing in the world to see them say 'hello' to all of Hollywood."
In "Good Afternoon," Reynolds does a pretty bad Cockney accent.
"Spirited," a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic tale "A Christmas Carol," has been alternately called "brilliant" and "goofy" by critics; it will be released in November 2022 and is currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
