Jennifer Coolidge's Golden Globe hair, Tanya McQuaid would agree.
Although Tanya McQuaid literally and tragically died in the Season 2 finale of White Lotus, Jennifer Coolidge is making sure the character's last wishes live on. To that end, she dressed as Monica Vitti (not to be confused with Peppa Pig) at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday the 10th. Although her appearance did not involve a Vespa (sigh), hairstylist Janine Thompson created a very voluminous hairstyle inspired by "the sex appeal, mystery, and glamour of 1950s Italian movie stars."
Of course, there is also a "how-to" featuring a rather long list of Better Not Younger hair products. First up: Thompson prepped Coolidge's hair with heat protectants and thickeners to prevent frizz. Then came the very large rollers. In a press release to Marie Claire, Thompson said, "Once Jennifer's hair was dry, we brushed through her entire locks and began creating the classic curls we associate with fun-loving, free-spirited Italian beauties." I love the idea of a classic curl that reminds me of a free-spirited Italian beauty," Thompson said in a press release to Marie Claire. To finish, Thompson used a bit of Licensed to Curl Revival Boost Spray and a dab of Wake Up Call High Hold Thickening Hairspray. She explained, "It only takes a little to keep the look voluminous, fluffy, and sexy."
While her hair may have brought the drama, the "Legally Blonde" star's makeup was equally noteworthy. She worked with makeup artist Lily Keys, who used the entire line of Victoria Beckham Beauty products to create a soft smokey eye, nude lip, and dewy base. Nailer Vanessa Sanchez McCullough created a gorgeous black set with gold triangle detailing that looked great with a sequined Dolce & Gabbana dress.
Now that the red carpet is over, we just sit here, dreaming of Coolidge's acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series (we'll let you know if she wins) and Mike White's success in bringing Tanya back for season 3 of White Lotus! I'm sure he is secretly hoping that he will.
