Prince Harry says he has enough material for a second book, but the royal family will never allow it
No doubt the royal family is upset about the contents of Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, which was released this week, but apparently they are happy with what he did not write.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Harry revealed that the first draft of the book was 800 pages, double the current 416 pages, and that he left out parts about his brother Prince William and father Prince Charles from the final version.
"It could have been two books, if you ask me," he said. And the hard part was getting rid of a lot of stuff." [There were things, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that they didn't want the world to know. Because I don't think they would ever forgive me."
Harry says that he gave his ghostwriter, J.R. Mohlinger, enough material for context, knowing that the anecdote would "never" make it into the published version.
[10] "It was on the scale of what we could include for the family," Harry says, "because if we tried to include it about someone in the family, it would end up in the trash bin. Says Harry. But it's impossible to tell my story without my family. Besides, I need to understand the characters and personalities of everyone in the book."
As Harry admits, so much explosive material made it into the book that it's hard to imagine what was cut: "Harry admits. 'Some would argue that some of the things I wrote in the book wouldn't have been forgiven anyway. 'Because what I really want is accountability. And an apology to my wife."
