British royal family holds "peace talks" with Prince Harry before King Charles' coronation

Spoiler alert: Relations between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family are currently a bit strained, to say the least. (Prince Harry's explosive memoir, "Spare" (and the media interviews surrounding it), have taken aim at Prince William in particular, attacking Prince Charles, Queen Camilla, and even the Princess of Wales. With the King's coronation looming at Westminster Abbey on May 6, The Sun reports that "The Royal Family will hold peace talks with Prince Harry before the King's coronation."

"Royal sources believe that peace talks could take place in the coming months, with Harry flying in from the US to meet King Charles and Prince William," the magazine reports. One source believes that the relationship is "repairable" but will require "flexibility on all sides."

"We need Harry in the room here with the King, the Prince of Wales, and several other family members," one source told The Sunday Times (opens in new tab). 'Both sides need to put their hands up and admit that we didn't get everything right and that we got a lot of things wrong.'

Another source told the magazine, "We have to invite them [Harry and his wife Meghan Markle] before the coronation.

The coronation is about three and a half months away and coincidentally falls on Harry and Meghan's son Archie's fourth birthday.

The possibility of peace talks came to light when Harry told ITV journalist Tom Bradby in an interview to promote "Spare" that "the ball is in their court" for a settlement, referring to the royal family. He also stated that he would like to attend his father's coronation.

"There's a lot that can happen between now and then," Harry said. 'But the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There's a lot to talk about, and I really hope they'll sit down and talk about it."

"We've got a lot to talk about," he said.

A source told The Sun that the senior royals do not want Harry to attend the event because they fear that anything they say will be "paperbacked" and could be a supplement to Spare's already bombshell There is also a possibility, he said.

"There have been discussions among the family, including Prince Edward and Princess Anne. They do not want their private conversation at the coronation to appear in the paperback of Spare."
