'Spare' Rants at Kate Middleton, Sources Claim
The two were very close at one time, but according to a source with knowledge of Prince Harry's forthcoming memoir, Spare, the Princess of Wales will be taking flak for her brother-in-law's book, which is scheduled for release on January 10. According to the Sunday Times (opens in new tab), the source said that Kate will "take a bit of flak," no doubt adding to the hurt and betrayal she felt after the release of Harry and his wife Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary last month, Marie Claire reportedly will add to it.
It is unclear what exactly Kate is being criticized for, but according to sources in The Sunday Times, Harry is putting Meghan on a pedestal in the opposite direction. The overall impression is that this is a man who has never recovered from the trauma of his mother's death at a young age, and then Meghan comes along and projects onto her something that is a parallel to Princess Diana."
Speaking of the Duchess of Sussex, Marie Claire magazine recently reported that she may be considering writing her own confessional book in the near future. (Spare is apparently part of a $20 million, four-book deal between Harry and Duchess Meghan and publisher Penguin Random House. Meghan's children's book, The Bench, was also published by the same publisher in 2021.)
The Sun reported that a source told OK that Meghan is "being completely candid about her time in the royal limelight and is considering doing her own memoir." The source said. The source added, "She intends to write the book and will leave no stone unturned."
According to the Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan are working on a wellness book that will likely be Meghan's memoir, prior to the "mysterious fourth book" in their four-book publishing deal.
"Frankly, I'd be surprised if Meghan doesn't publish her own story," a Hollywood agent told the magazine.
"Spare is obviously Prince Harry's chance to tell his story, but she's just as compelling. I mean, how many actresses would marry a prince?"
