Prince Harry looks "like he's given up trying" in ITV interview trailer, body language expert says

Prince Harry will give two explosive interviews ahead of the January 10 publication of his memoirs.

To promote the spare, the Duke of Sussex will appear on 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper in the US and ITV with Tom Bradby in the UK

The latter interview will air at 9pm UK time on January 8, and its 20-second trailer, which promises to ruffle some serious feathers with aplomb.

In the trailer, the Duke says, "It didn't have to be this way," then "Leaks, and plants ... ." He continues, "I want a family, not an organization," he says, "They feel it is better to leave us as villains somehow," and "They have not shown any willingness to reconcile." Then he adds, "I want my father back. I want my brother back," he concludes.

If these words seem like a lot in themselves, wait until you hear what the experts say about royal body language in these video excerpts.

"When he talks about being made a 'villain,' his eyebrows raise in an exasperated, innocent expression," Judy James told The Sun.

"He shrugs his left shoulder in dismay, as if he's given up trying, and with a staccato blink and a shake of his head, he says, 'I have no intention of settling.'

"His hands rub and cross his thumbs in a ritual that suggests a desire to soothe and reassure the self.

James explained that Harry's desire to be reunited with his father and brother, the prince expresses this "with nuances of challenge and some anger, rather than sadness or regret."

She added, "His chin goes up, and then his expression drops, landing on something resembling a scowl.

"This does not appear to be throwing up his arms in a gesture of reconciliation, but rather a determination to move things forward on his own terms."

Relations between the U.S.-based Sussex couple and other royal family members have become increasingly strained since their 2020 breakup. The couple's revelations to Oprah Winfrey, as well as the recent Netflix documentary and anticipation of "Spare," have all resulted in further rifts.

Let's see if they can mend it in time.
