Prince Harry Shows 'Repressed Anger and Frustration' in Interview Trailer, Body Language Expert Says
For royal fans, no news is more current than Prince Harry's forthcoming book, Spare, and the two interviews that will precede the book's release.
Trailers and clips of the two interviews are now available on 60 Minutes and ITV.
Here, a body language expert tells Marie Claire what has not been said in the explosive videos we have seen so far.
"In the footage of the upcoming ITV interview, Harry talks about reconciliation with his family," Darren Stanton says on behalf of Slingo (open in new tab).
"The sign he tends to exhibit is the chin thrust, which is common in boxers and other athletes. This signifies strength, arrogance, and resoluteness.
According to experts, the Duke of Sussex is really angry about the situation with his family.
"If you read his emotions, you can tell because he is expressing anger, his eyebrows are raised, his eyes are narrowed, and his lips are pursed," Stanton explains.
"This tells us that he is very unhappy with his current situation and is maintaining eye contact with interviewer Tom Bradby.
As for clues as to whether Harry can reconcile with his father and brother, the trailer leaves Stanton decidedly lost.
"It is clear that Harry genuinely seems to want to reconcile with his father and brother, while he is also deeply frustrated by how certain information was allegedly 'leaked' from the palace," the expert said.
"He seems to have run out of patience with the way the media treats Princess Meghan and now wants to put all the upset behind him."
We will be getting a lot of Prince Harry content in the coming days, including a second interview in the U.S., the preview of which Stanton also commented on was released.
"Harry's preview of him speaking with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes also illustrates these features well.
"He is suppressing his anger and frustration at not having been able to voice his opinion before. Harry's face continues to turn red, indicating an internal shift toward anger.
"He also wants to distance himself by maintaining a sense of formality, as evidenced by the language he uses when referring to Princess Meghan as my wife. This is in contrast to the private portrayal of the two we saw in the Netflix documentary.
