Prince Charles and Queen Camilla wish to change the spelling of their names to Princess Catherine.
Despite being born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla once wished to spell the Princess of Wales' name "Catherine."
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Charles and Camilla's logic was that too many names beginning with the letter C would "cause confusion, especially with cyphers, which are personal monograms for members of the royal family."
The book also reveals that Charles had an unusual obsession with Princess Catherine's hair and that the current king "often" talked about how beautiful it was. (Harry also writes that both his father and his late grandmother preferred "women with their hair down" and "minimal makeup." ) That is why Harry's future wife, Meghan Markle, wore her hair down and minimal makeup when they first met at Clarence House, the home of Prince Charles and Camilla, over crumpets with marmite and a salmon sandwich together.
In addition to the "Princess/Catherine" vignette, spoiler alert: Charles and Camilla were no match for this vignette. Harry claimed that Princess Catherine (and her brother Prince William) encouraged him to wear a Nazi uniform at a 2005 party, and Catherine was angry that Meghan said he had a "baby brain" in a phone call for Harry and Meghan's 2018 wedding. Later, when the two couples met for tea at Kensington Palace, Meghan apologized and said that was the way she spoke to her friend.
William "pointed the finger" at Princess Meghan and said, "Well, that's rude, Meghan. We don't do these things here," to which Meghan replied, "If you don't mind, please keep your fingers out of my face."
Princess Catherine, who had just given birth to Prince Louis in April 2018, said, "You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones."
Harry also recalled an "awkward moment" when Meghan asked Kate to lend her lip gloss before their joint appearance in 2018. Harry wrote that "Kate was so surprised that she went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube." 'Meg put some on her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate giggled.
Harry continued that the foursome "should have been able to laugh" about the moment, but the press sensed that it was something big, and Katherine was now irritated that she was "going to be compared to Meg and forced to compete."
Harry also mentioned the infamous fight between Catherine and Meghan during Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress fitting, when Catherine texted Meghan the week of the wedding about "problems" with Princess Charlotte's dress, saying it was "too big, too long, too baggy" and wrote that Princess Charlotte "cried when she tried it on. Harry wrote that since the dress was hand-sewn based on measurements, it made sense that it needed to be altered, but Princess Catherine allegedly insisted that the dress be made from scratch.
Harry claimed that "Meghan told Kate to bring Charlotte to the palace, where a tailor was waiting to do alterations on all six bridesmaids, and she eventually agreed," the Daily Mail reported. Harry later found Meghan "on the floor" crying over the disagreement, but the next day Kate apologized and brought flowers and a card, it wrote.
This all happened just before Princess Catherine's 41st birthday, which is Monday. Spares will be released the next day.
