Meghan Markle's claim that she could not invite her niece to the wedding is "completely false," a Palace source claims.
An anonymous palace official has denied claims made by Meghan Markle in Netflix's Harry & Meghan.
The third episode, released last week, features Ashley Hale, Meghan's niece and Samantha Markle's daughter.
The Duchess of Sussex recalls her heartbreak when her office told her that Hale could not come to her wedding to Prince Harry.
"That never happened," a palace official fired back to The Sunday Times (via OK!)
"We never advised, steered or guided her family or friends as to who should or should not come."
They further explained that Meghan wanted to protect Hale from the media onslaught, claiming that she was the one who decided not to invite her niece.
"It wasn't a question she asked us," the sources continued. We would never tell her not to invite her own niece, and we would never get involved in managing her personal relationship." [Another royal source added, "Meghan didn't want the media to know about Ashley. There is not a person in the world who would tell you not to invite your family to your wedding. That's an outright lie."
"She wanted to invite more family so it wouldn't seem weird to her.
In a Yahoo! column this week, Omid Scobie explained that "royal officials" are "usually ciphers for someone in the palace who doesn't want to be on record."
With claims apparently contradicting each other, it is becoming increasingly difficult to decipher who is telling the truth. Perhaps it is all a terrible misunderstanding.
