Prince Harry believes Meghan Markle's miscarriage was partly due to "text messages."

In November 2020, Meghan Markle revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in July of that year.

"I fell to the floor with him in my arms and belted out a lullaby to calm us both, its cheerful tune in contrast to my sense that something was wrong," she wrote in a New York Times op-ed at the time. 'As I held my first child, I knew I was losing my second. [A] few hours later, I was lying in a hospital bed, holding my husband's hand. I felt the sting of my husband's palm and kissed his tear-stained knuckles. My eyes were slack as I stared at the cold white walls. I tried to imagine how we could be healed."

On Netflix's Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry and his wife opened up about how painful the experience was for them, and the Duke cited the stress of his ongoing legal battle with the Mail on Sunday as a crucial factor in the Duchess' miscarriage.

"I think my wife miscarried because of what the Mail did. I watched the whole thing," Harry said in Episode 6.

"Now, do we absolutely know that the miscarriage was caused by that? But given the stress of it, the lack of sleep, the timing of the pregnancy, what week it was, I can tell you from what I saw that the miscarriage was caused by what they were trying to do to her"

.

The Duchess also revealed why she felt it was important to share her miscarriage experience.

"When you've had a miscarriage and you've felt embarrassed about it, you say, 'It's okay, you're human. It's okay to talk about it. [17] [18] "And I could choose to never talk about those things. Or I could choose to say, 'The good thing is that even though there are bad things, the good thing is that I can help other people.'"
