Paparazzi photo from 2011 used in "Harry & Meghan" trailer; Sussex couple reportedly "hounded" by photographer

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are constantly criticized by the press and often followed by paparazzi.

However, in the trailer for the upcoming Netflix documentary "Harry & Meghan," a photo of a photographer supposedly "hounding" the royal couple was actually taken at the 2011 premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in London The Sun reports that the photo was actually taken at the premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" in London in 2011.

The black-and-white image used in the trailer can be seen on the stock photo site Alamy (opens in new tab), which states that it was indeed taken on July 7, 2011, the day of the premiere of the final Harry Potter film.

Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had nothing to do with the image research or video editing involved in the production of this trailer, but since they are its subjects, this move could unfortunately reflect badly on them.

"I don't think Harry would have noticed, but Netflix was thoughtless in undermining his comments about protecting his family," royal expert Ingrid Sward told The Sun. 'This fake photo weakens his argument.'

In a short teaser for the series, Prince Harry said, "I had to do everything I could to protect my family."

The Sun photographer Doug Seaberg was at the 2011 Harry Potter premiere and condemned the use of this particular photo in the trailer.

"I remember going to the premiere. It was a big event. Huge crowds of fans gathered in the rain to see the actors and camped out overnight. There was no Royal Family in sight." [The Netflix trailer portrays it as if photographers, including myself, were trying to get shots of the royal couple, which is nonsense. But it is nonsense."

"It seems like lazy photo research to have a picture of that premiere in this trailer about Harry and Meghan.

Still, there is no denying that the Sussexes have struggled with the paparazzi for years. [21] [22] Prince Harry fought with the paparazzi before meeting his wife, the couple lied about Archie's birth to ward off the paparazzi, and even filed a legal claim against a paparazzi agency, although the use of the 2011 photo makes it seem as if those problems do not exist, they do in fact exist.
