Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Netflix doc could make them look "bitter and jealous," royal expert says
In the explosive second trailer for Netflix's Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry says, "There is a hierarchy in the family. There are leaks... There are stories being cooked up." [Intentional or not, the Harry and Meghan Markle documentary is likely to be a major break with the royal family's business-as-usual attitude, with royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti calling the Sussex couple's decision to go ahead with the show an "attack" on the working royal family He calls it an "attack" on the working royal family.
To him, what we know so far about the series, the first of which will be released on December 8 and the second on December 15, could reflect badly on Harry, who may appear jealous of his brother's position in the royal pecking order.
"There seems to be jealousy behind this attack," Sacerdoti tells Marie Claire. Harry is frustrated with the hierarchy of the royal family, as if he were unique in realizing that there may be a pecking order in the family, which is literally numbered in the order of succession according to importance"
.
In particular, Sacerdoti points to the inclusion of photos of Prince William and Princess Kate in two trailers released in recent days as a likely indication of what we can expect in the actual episodes.
"Both trailers feature shots of the Princess of Wales, and it seems likely that William and Catherine will be specifically attacked," the expert continues.
"If that is the case, it would really suck for Meghan and Harry. They always said they valued compassion, but it certainly doesn't look that way."
Sacerdoti also takes issue with the fact that the project was planned while the late queen's health was deteriorating. For him, "the couple has nothing to sell but controversy and drama."
For what it's worth, an Oprah interview with the Sussexes in 2021 revealed a series of bombshells, including accusations of racism against the royal family and the Duchess's struggle with suicide while in England.
