Kate Middleton looks like a fairy-tale princess in a tiara and bedazzled dress for King Charles' first state dinner.
My jaw dropped when I saw the pictures.
Princess Kate attended her first state dinner as Princess of Wales on Tuesday, and I don't think it's hyperbole to say she wore her best royal outfit ever.
Welcoming South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to a dinner hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Kate literally dazzled in a floor-length white dress by Jenny Packham. The stunning dress featured sparkling embellishments around the padded shoulders and long sleeves with slits. Remove most of the sequins, raise the neckline, and loosen the fabric a bit, and it's basically her "No Time to Die" premiere dress.
But the Princess of Wales didn't leave all the glittering heavy lifting to the gorgeous dress. She paired it with a "Lover's Knot" tiara, previously worn by Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, to create a fairy-tale princess look.
Rebecca English, the royal editor, tweeted this about the princess's outfit:" Princess Wales wears a Jenny Packham dress, Lover's Knot tiara, Royal Family Order, GCVO Star & Sash, bracelets from the late Queen, and earrings from the late Princess of Wales."
Of particular interest to me was the Royal Family Order, a yellow fabric ribbon with a miniature crown with bijoux and a framed photo of the late Queen in her youth. This accessory is worn like a brooch.
Finally, if you look carefully, you can see the glittering heels poking through as the Princess walks.
In case you were wondering, there was no foie gras on the menu, but there were many other dishes that looked gorgeous.
Royal biographer Omid Scobie shared a menu on Twitter that included words like "Windsor pheasant" and "panache." As I said: fancy.
