Princess Kate "regal" and "frighteningly similar" to Princess Diana at state dinner: body language expert
Princess Kate will one day be queen.
Attending King Charles' first state dinner as monarch, held Tuesday in honor of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Princess of Wales looked absolutely devastating in her glittering bridal gown and historic tiara.
To body language expert Darren Stanton, she looked like the queen-to-be, but also like her late mother-in-law, the beloved Princess Diana.
"I think Kate looked every bit the queen. I don't think there has ever been a more imposing and impressive photograph of Kate ever published," Stanton told Marie Claire on behalf of Slingo (opens in new tab).
"Comparisons have been made to Princess Diana because Kate was wearing a tiara that Princess Diana also wore," Stanton continued.
"I think most would agree that the resemblance is frightening and reminiscent of the late Princess Diana."
"She may not be the 'Queen of People's Hearts' that Princess Diana would have wanted, but I think there is no doubt that Kate is one of the most popular figures in the senior royal family right now."
"I think her success is largely due to her authenticity and willingness to connect with everyone."
For Stanton, it was not only the princess's appearance that solidified her as a true royal.
"There was a wonderful photo of the moment when Kate and the South African president were toasting each other over drinks. They unconsciously mirrored each other's body language and were completely at ease with each other," says Stanton. Kate had a genuine smile on her face that made every muscle in her face move, and it was clear from the positioning of the President and the camera that he was completely mesmerized by Kate's presence."
"His eyes were wide open, which is what happens when you enter a state of reciprocal goodwill" [
.
In other words, Kate may not be a queen, but she is a perfect queen.
