Taylor Swift Fans Thrilled as Ticketmaster Crashes in "Historically Unprecedented Demand"
Basically everyone in the United States logged onto Ticketmaster on Tuesday to get tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. The result, unsurprisingly, was a crash of the event's website, and thousands of people were outraged.
According to the Guardian, Ticketmaster's response claimed that there was "historically unprecedented demand," resulting in "intermittent problems" that they were trying to fix "urgently."
The magazine also reported that fans had been waiting for eight hours, with many unable to purchase tickets.
Despite efforts to avoid such a situation, tickets are apparently selling for up to $22,700 on resale sites.
Social media users are losing their minds over this one, resorting to humor as a coping mechanism.
One fan wrote, "My favorite part of the whole day was Ticketmaster asking me if I wanted to add vinyl to my $1300 purchase."
Another wrote, "Standing in line at Ticketmaster made me think if I had to wait in line once in 2006 to hear 'Our Song' on the radio even once in 2006,"
and "There are 8 billion people in the world, and every single one of them is apparently standing in front of me in the Taylor Swift Ticketmaster line."
Someone else wisely pointed out, "It's as if I'm Taylor Swift. pointed out, "As if Taylor Swift wasn't one of the biggest artists in the galaxy."
More seriously, others have pointed out that there may be a political problem here.
"Let them disband."
On this subject, someone asked, "You couldn't get a ticket either?"
He interjected.
Culture writer Eramin Abdelmahmoud wrote, "Swifty against monopolies gets radicalized and prepares to lobby for antitrust: "What is Joe Bidden's plan to lift the suspension of the Ticketmaster line for Taylor Swift's eras tour? plans to do?"
We are all waiting to hear back from the White House.
