Prince Charles and Queen Camilla are walking and begging

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were the targets of an egg-throwing attack this week while strolling through York in northern England.

The royal couple were meeting and chatting with locals when a 23-year-old student threw three eggs at them. [The protester was detained and arrested by police, who were heard shouting "This country was built on the blood of slaves."

Video footage of the attack shows the king calmly ending his conversation with the person he was speaking to when he noticed the eggs on the ground.

Cries of "God save the king" and "Shame on you" were heard from the crowd, but Charles remained calm throughout the incident.

Lip leader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror that the king told the person he was chatting with that he was "honored to meet you."

As the royal party began to move through the crowd again, the king apparently told one of his companions, "It's okay, let's continue." He also asked the protector, "Are you all right?" He apparently asked, to which the answer seems to have been, "He is protected."

Witness Kim Oldfield told the BBC that she was "enjoying" watching the royal couple until she heard "boos and eggs flying."

She recalled, "I glanced to the side and saw the police just coming down to the barrier and trying to drag this man down from above."

"They were about to send about five eggs flying

"When the booing started, Camilla kind of flinched, but they [the police] quelled it really quickly. It's just a shame that they ruined a great moment."

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell of York also commented on the incident.

"People in public office are sometimes left vulnerable. I would certainly like to live in a country, and indeed a world, where we are not surrounded by people who care about us so much that we can't meet people or chat with people," Cottrell told the BBC. [The king and queen certainly want that. They [were] chatting with people that day. So I don't think they are affected by it."

There is a big "keep calm and carry on" vibe here from Charles and Camilla.
