Prince William and Princess Kate, along with their children, will "break the cycle" of succession and regrettable clichés, a royal expert said.
The release date and title for Prince Harry's memoir: SPARE will be released on January 10, 2023.
This title has been on the tongue since it was announced last week. The widespread use of the phrase "heir and spare" is a reference to the fact that Prince William was a candidate for king and Harry was his understudy until Prince George was born.
As you might imagine, being a so-called "spare" is not always a pleasant position.
"There is a heir-spare dynamic that we've been talking about for the last few years, but generally spares get completely lost and get into trouble," royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told the Express.
"We've seen Princess Margaret, Prince Andrew, and now Prince Harry. I know Prince Harry is trying to do his own thing, but I think he's struggling."
There is a silver lining for Scofield: she believes that Prince William and Princess Kate will not continue this toxic pattern with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
"I don't think it will happen to Prince William's children," Scofield said.
"I think they will break this cycle. I think they will stop talking about spares and the 'need' for spares will end now."
"I think we will see his children go to school, find careers that they are truly passionate about, and become the kind of adults that Margaret and Andrew never saw.
"They just lived content with the contents of their wallets and waved at strangers. I think William's children will be encouraged to find their purpose and pursue it.
Let's hope she's right!
