Meghan Markle No More "Rehashing of Old Issues" After "Variety" Interview, Royal Commentator Says
Meghan Markle has not had an easy time as senior royalty.
She has previously spoken about the many difficult experiences she has dealt with, including struggles with racist prejudice as well as suicidal thoughts, none of which are easy to heal.
Still, one royal commentator believes that the Duchess of Sussex now feels ready to close that chapter of her life and look to the future instead.
"She was talking about the institution of the monarchy, which I thought was very interesting," Rachel Bowie said on the podcast "Royally Obsessed" (via Express).
"She asks, 'Are those institutions similar in that you go through the process you went through in the monarchy and then you become a civilian again?'"
"This is in reference to Hollywood and the monarchy."
"She talks about how much Hollywood has changed. 'The more complex an organization is, there is always something in it that you think is positive, and it's important to focus on that.'
For Bowie, this was in stark contrast to Markle's interview with The Cut magazine this summer. In response, royal reporter Roya Nikka called the Duchess's words "a thinly veiled threat."
Bowie commented, "It's like a complete turnaround from 'The Cut' when she said, 'I haven't signed anything, I can say whatever I want,'"
Bowie said, "I'm not a signer of anything."
"Now she says there's always something positive.
"I think a lot of the criticism was that she was dragging out and rehashing old issues in every interview, which made it feel like she was "here again, talking about how everything went wrong."
For Bowie, the Duchess may now be ready to talk about the right things instead. Happy for her.
