Simone Biles Urges Followers Not to Dress Up as Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween
The Halloween season is upon us, and already Jeffrey Dahmer costumes are popping up one after another, even involving children.
Hundreds of people have shared how disturbing these costumes are, but unfortunately, with the recent release of Netflix's true-life limited series "Monster," these costumes have become ubiquitous: Jeffrey The Dahmer Story" has made these costumes ubiquitous.
Dahmer was convicted of 17 murders, many of them people of color.
That's why gymnastics star Simone Biles took to Twitter to urge her followers not to dress up as serial killers on Halloween,
she wrote: "I'm not a fan of the Dahmer costumes." Please put your Jeffrey Dahmer costume back in the closet."
She added: "
I'm not sure if you've seen the video.
Biles' tweet had 120k likes at the time of writing and the comments section was filled with support for her message.
One person wrote, "Dahmer targeted marginalized communities because he knew the police would not investigate on the level of straight white males. I can't imagine anyone dressing up as Dahmer on Halloween. It's disrespectful to both the black and brown gay community."
Someone else said, "At my daughters middle school so many kids are saying they want to go as him. I told her I didn't like it and explained why."
Another user said, "The fact that it even has to be said!"
he wrote.
Another user wrote, "Why everyone supports a murderer is sickening."
In response to the controversy, eBay banned the sale of Jeffrey Dahmer's costume, BuzzFeed News reported.
