Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Website Update Can Do Without the Royal Family, Experts Say

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new life is unfolding in California, far from the royal family.

The latest sign came in the form of an update to the homepage of their Archewell website, featuring a lovey-dovey photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex taken by their friend, photographer Misann Harriman.

Next to the photo is a sign that reads, "Each of us can make a difference in our community. Harry and Megan," signed "Harry and Megan.

For Angela Levine, a royal expert, this is not an innocent decision.

"What's very interesting is that you can always read the underlying content of what they really want to say, and the main thing is that at the beginning, 'Each of us can change our communities,'" Levin told The Sun.

"And I think they're saying we can do without the royal family, we don't need the royal family, the royal family is fine the way it is, we're going to build another community."[9 I think."

"And they want to be global, 'we can all change the world,' and they say to the Royal Family, 'we can do without you,' when in fact we can't."

"If they could, they would have done so before, they would have left their titles behind and become completely independent, but they hang on."

During the period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, the Archewell website was blacked out, with only a message from Harry about the sad passing of his grandmother. Now there is no longer any mention of the late Queen.

"Not even a few lines saying nice and kind things about the loss of the queen," Levin remarked.

It is worth noting in context that Levin, author of Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort (open in new tab), has consistently been quite critical of the Sussexes.

Still, there are many signs that Levin is right about this: after all, the Sussexes have distanced themselves from the royal family over the past few years, both physically by moving to California and in terms of work and media appearances.

With that in mind, Meghan Markle said in an interview with The Cut that she hopes Harry does not lose his father in all this drama, just as he lost his father Thomas for his 2018 wedding.

"Harry told me," she recalled, "that I (Meghan) lost my father (Thomas) in this process." It doesn't have to be the same for them as it was for me, but it's his decision."
