Prince Charles apparently pays close attention to everything Meghan Markle says about herself.
[OK reports that Prince Charles is "aware" of every keynote interview in which his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle participates. This extends to his son Prince Harry as well, with a royal expert saying, "He will be watching."
"Prince Charles' approach is to try to ignore most of what is written and said about him," says Duncan Larcombe.
"But in the case of Princess Meghan, I would be very, very surprised if he hasn't noticed all kinds of keynote interviews and commercial stuff.
Last week, Meghan was on the cover of Variety and gave a wide-ranging interview, but it is likely that Prince Charles' staff briefed him on her remarks.
"It's the Royal Family brand," says Larcombe. 'It is a fact that Queen Meghan is doing business under King Charles' brand. She is doing business with a brand for which Prince Charles now has a great deal of responsibility. But it will be more of a business sense. He would not want Princess Meghan to say anything that would damage the reputation of the royal family, especially something that, in his opinion, is completely untrue and unfair." [Experts say it is not a personal matter, but a business matter. 'It's not that he wants to cry or be sad so he can go dig in the garden to make himself feel better. It's a practical thing. The family's business must be protected, and the new king has limited tolerance for Meghan cashing in. In the wake of the queen's death, it is perhaps good to see her reining in what was beginning to look like another attack, and a new one at that."
Marie Claire reports that Harry and Meghan are tempering the content of Prince Charles in both Harry's forthcoming memoir and the couple's forthcoming Netflix documentary, according to sources who told OK magazine's Radar that if they do not take such action, consequences could result, they said.
"The King has issued a firm warning to Harry that if he snitches on him in any way in the book, his entire family will be stripped of their knighthoods. And Harry would be permanently cut off from royal life." Charles went into serious crisis management mode. He knows that Harry holds the key to a closet full of dark secrets. It goes much deeper than simply Harry calling Charles a bad father on television."
