Meghan Markle returns to UK in November, may be honored
Meghan Markle has been involved in a variety of charities over the years, and she may once again be recognized for her work.
The Sun reports that she may be in the running for the prestigious 2022 GQ Men of the Year award. And apparently she is "expected" to return to the UK to attend the awards ceremony in London on November 16.
"Meghan was offered one of the top awards that evening, so it's a big coup for her," a source told The Sun. [She already has a close relationship with GQ because of her friendship with Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, which is also under Condé Nast.
"Edward is very much seen as a friend rather than a business acquaintance."
The Duchess of Sussex famously appeared as a guest editor in the September issue of British Vogue in 2019, praising the women she selected as "a force for change."
The GQ Awards were reportedly postponed from the original September 7 date so that Prince Harry and Meghan could come if they wanted to.
"Meghan is on a mini-tour of Europe and would not have been able to attend if the awards had been held on the original September date," The Sun's source continued. There is no doubt that things will have to be re-evaluated to make it as respectful as possible."
The Sun's source continued.
When the Queen died on September 8, the Sussexes were in Europe for a series of charity functions. It is hoped that the new dates for the awards will not conflict with their current schedule. It is not yet known if they will be crossing the Atlantic.
The Duke and Duchess have rarely returned to the UK since leaving the royal family in early 2020, but may want to return more often after the Queen's death. So let's take a look!
