Here's what Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis found most interesting about the Queen's funeral plans
Thursday, September 8, the day Queen Elizabeth died, also happened to be the first day of school at Lambrook for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Over the next week, as their mother, Kate Middleton, dropped them off at school each day, the three witnessed the constant preparations for the Queen's funeral.
Kate, who had visited the staff running the Queen's funeral at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle last Thursday and the Monday before that, said the children were fascinated by the funeral security, especially the security drones flying over Windsor before the funeral on Monday, September 19.
"You could see the preparation going on as they put on the school run," she said while attending an event at the Windsor Guildhall, according to People. 'We've seen it grow.'
She praised the "very well-organized" Committal Service plan, seeing it as "quite a mission." Kate said her three children "rolled their eyes" at her asking about the security drones.
George and Charlotte accompanied their parents to the state funeral and farewell ceremony, but Louis was deemed too young to attend, being only four years old. Just a few weeks ago, the family of five moved from Kensington Palace in London to Windsor, where they live at Adelaide Cottage, just half a mile from Windsor Castle; according to People magazine, "As funeral arrangements have taken shape in recent weeks, the move offered the family a unique vantage point ".
In an attempt to "maintain as much normalcy as possible" for their children, the Crown Prince and Princess have no plans to move from their new home to Windsor Castle. (The Queen has made Windsor her primary residence since the pandemic.) And speaking of Windsor Castle, while visiting with mourners in recent weeks, Kate said, "It is very strange that Her Majesty the Queen is not here."
