Rothy's New Collection Turns Water Bottles into Fashion

This week, Rothy's (opens in new tab), the beloved accessories brand long known for its sustainable, low-waste production methods with a focus on circularity, collaborated with Evian to give plastic water bottles, in their words, "a second life" The latest collection (opens in new tab) by [After last year's U.S. Open, Rothy's and Evian set out to collect the 72,000 plastic water bottles consumed at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the site of the annual tennis event in Queens, NY. Saskia Van Gent, Rothy's Head of Sustainability, said, "Inspired by the incredible amount of waste our founders saw in other footwear manufacturing industries, Rothy's was founded with the goal of making things better. She says, "We are thrilled to be working with Evian to showcase Rothy's ability to transform and prove that innovation can find new uses for single-use plastics."

Rothy's used in-house technology to spin more than 70,000 Evian plastic bottles into soft, malleable yarn, which was then woven into Rothy's signature shoes and accessories. This collection reminds us that something useful can come from waste.

This tennis-inspired drop features seven items, including sneakers, caps, visors, and three bags. The products are incomparably chic, featuring a predominantly white color palette while incorporating Evian's minimalist blues, pinks, and reds.

The collection is available now on Rothy's website, but don't delay! The durable, machine-washable items often sell out, so be sure to get them in your wardrobe in time for the upcoming 2022 U.S. Open.
