Prince Harry spotted in Africa after Sussex family announces European tour
Prince Harry appears to be in Africa right now.
The Duke of Sussex was pictured in Mozambique just days after announcing that he and Meghan Markle are preparing for a trip to England and Germany in September.
Twitter user Eric Morier-Genoud posted a photo featuring the royal family and captioned it, "Prince Harry is in Vilanculos."
In the photo, the Duke poses in a gray polo shirt, navy cargo shorts, and gray sneakers. He also wears a hat with the logo of African Parks, a South Africa-based NGO. Prince Harry has been involved with the charity since 2016 and has served as its chairman since 2017, helping to protect national parks and wildlife on the African continent.
The reason for the royal family's visit to Africa is unknown, but freelance writer and royal watcher R.S. Locke has several theories.
They wrote on Twitter, "Prince Harry is wearing his trusty @AfricanParks hat. Probably traveling in Mozambique before going to the UK with Meghan next month."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also in the country.
Along with a paparazzi photo of the Duke seeing the sights, Locke writes: "I've been to the Duke's home in Mozambique. Travariste and scouting the African Park?"
.
A royal fan commented that he was most likely a conservationist as president of African Parks, to which Locke replied, "That was my guess as well." It's been a long time since I've heard about his trips to Africa in the wake of the pandemic, and summer is when he was spending a lot of time with his patrons."
Someone else wrote "H&M is the only VIP I do this with: stop what I'm doing to research new things for them. So... Vilanculos is on the east coast, a short plane ride to the archipelago Bazaruto, including the national park, the first marine park managed by AP."

The royal family has been visiting the African continent for some time; they have been there many times since their first visit with their father, Prince Charles, when they were 13 years old.
In a recent speech to the United Nations on the occasion of Nelson Mandela Day, he said, "Since my first visit to Africa at the age of 13, I have always found hope in the African continent. In fact, for most of my life, Africa has been my lifeline.... It is where I felt closest to my mother, where I sought solace after her death, and where I knew I had found my soul mate in my wife" (via Hello!)
The late Princess Diana also visited Africa many times during and after her marriage to Prince Charles. As for Harry, he traveled to Africa with his current wife early in their romance, ensuring their future together.
And in case you didn't quite catch the term Travalyst, it's a non-profit organization he founded to promote more earth-friendly travel. So here goes.
