Prince Charles leaves for polo competition hours after welcoming Princess Diana and Princess Harry home.
Prince Harry was born on September 15, 1984, at St. Mary's Hospital in London. The following day, his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, posed with Prince Harry outside the hospital doors, after which they were driven home. However, it does not appear that they spent much time nesting afterward.
Part of the day's news commentary was featured in the HBO documentary "The Princess," which casually (but not really that casually) passed judgment on Prince Charles' choice of activities after welcoming his new baby.
"At the entrance to Kensington Palace, the Prince, Princess, and baby arrive at breakneck speed from the hospital and press in without stopping," a voiceover says over footage of the Welsh couple's car.
"Less than an hour later, Prince Charles was off to a polo match. Barbaric, but also fair.
The following commentary on this documentary comes from another source, which comments on Prince Charles' attitude toward marriage, superimposing footage of Prince Charles playing polo with footage of Camilla Parker Bowles watching in the stands. I do not believe that the game shown in the video is the game Charles played the day after Harry's birth.
"He has spent his entire married life as if he were a bachelor. He has made few concessions to being a married man with the responsibilities of a wife and two children."
Given what we now know about that particular marriage, this tidbit is, as if, not the best.
