Chris Hemsworth Donates $1 Million to Fight Australian Bushfires, Asks Others to Help
With the Australian wildfires in crisis, many celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Rizzo, Pink, and Selena Gomez, have pledged to donate to organizations that support firefighters and victims. This week, Chris Hemsworth joined the list of donors (opens in new tab), donating a whopping $1 million and encouraging his followers to give what they can.
In a candid Instagram video (opens in new tab), Hemsworth said, "As you are well aware, the Australian bushfires have caused tremendous damage. They are still burning. Warmer weather is on the way. We are still in the middle of it. What we need is your support and donations."
"I'm going to put up a million dollars, but I was hoping you all could donate in any way you can, because every dollar counts," he continued. That money will go directly to the firefighters, to the people on the front lines, to the people who have been affected, to the communities that have been hit and desperately need our help."
"I want to thank everyone who has already sent so much good will and donations. It is very much appreciated in Australia. But dig deep, lots of love and we will keep going." Cheers."
