Harry's Friend Says "Really Bad Personal Split" Drove Sussexes to Retirement
If you recall, the royal family is in absolute turmoil thanks to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's bombshell announcement (opens in new tab) that they are stepping down as "senior" members of the royal family. Harry's friend Tom Bradby, who filmed a documentary on the Sussex couple's royal tour, sheds light on the situation.
Speaking to ITV News (opens in new tab), Bradby said that aside from the media drama, the couple's decision to step down from royal life was based on a "really terrible personal split - that's the honest truth."
He added that. 'There was a lot of conflict. A lot of harsh things were said around the time of the wedding. And it went a little too far. From Harry and Meghan's point of view, it's like being an outcast. It's sad."
This is honestly sad, and the fallout from their announcement is not making things any easier. 'There will be many complications and controversies. There really needs to be a peace agreement soon because this is very damaging, there is a lot of anger, and honestly, at this point, it looks like it could get worse, not better,' he said."
On how Meghan and Harry are dealing with the situation, Bradby said 'We are making a break for independence and freedom here. You wanted a slim monarchy. There is no place for us there. We need to learn to live on our own. We want to do that."
