Princess Meghan and Harry not taking Archie to England this week
While Prince Harry and Princess Meghan fly to London for the first installment of their return to royal duties (opens in new tab) and also break the news that the couple has decided to step down from being active senior members of the royal family, their 8-month-old son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, is in Canada remains in Canada.
Omid Scobie reports (opens in new tab) for BAZAAR.com (opens in new tab) that while the Sussexes are in England this week, Archie is under the watchful eye of Meghan's best friend Jessica Mulroney and nanny. Meghan will be in England this evening. Meghan is scheduled to return to her son in Victoria, Canada this evening, with Harry soon to follow. [opens in new tab] According to People (opens in new tab), Mulroney, whose three children attended Meghan and Harry's wedding day in 2018, hours after news of the Sussex couple's descent began making headlines, encouraged Instagram (opens in new tab) opens in new tab) posted.
For the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the days ahead are bound to be trying. The Queen has reportedly ordered a meeting between herself, Prince Charles, Prince William, and their respective offices to find a "workable solution" to Meghan and Harry's desired change in roles as soon as possible.
Although both the Duke and Duchess acknowledge that their decision is a difficult one, a friend close to the couple told BAZAAR.com that they are "confident" about their plans to change their role within the monarchy.
"Harry and Meghan are aware that they will be criticized and possibly vilified for taking control of their lives," the friend continues. But creating a positive future for themselves and their families is always their priority."
