Jennifer Lopez not nominated for an Oscar for "The Hustler," and Twitter is furious.

The Oscar nominations have finally been announced, and as usual there are strong feelings about who did and did not receive a nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Fans were outraged that Jennifer Lopez was not recognized for her work on "Hustlers," as actors Issa Rae and John Cho were on hand this morning to deliver the news. Another glaring oversight was also noted: all nominees for the 2020 Oscar for Best Director are male. (Rae acknowledged this (opens in new tab) and said "Congratulations, men!" when announcing the nominations.)

But back to J.Lo for a moment: she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards (opens in new tab) Many fans were in disbelief that she was not recognized by the Academy, given that she had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress (and won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress). Lopez gave a fine performance as Ramona, the mama bear in "The Hustler," adding depth and complexity to the character.

J.Lo fans are no doubt angry, but there is one person in this drama who is keeping her cool: Jennifer Lopez, who, according to ET, did not get up early to check her Oscar nominations (open in new tab). No, no, no, call me when it's done."

Lopez, ever so graciously, said, "I have nothing to complain about ... (Except that I have sore muscles from rehearsing (for the Super Bowl)... I mean, my life is so great right now. My personal life, my kids, everything. Everything is going great, and I feel really lucky."

J.Lo's humility brought tears to my eyes.
