Celebrity MUAs on the Makeup Trends Sweeping the Year

As times change, so do our beauty habits. Think back with me for a moment to your make-up memories: your make-up routine is very different in 2010 and 2020; your make-up routine is very different in 2010 and 2020, and will probably make you feel all kinds of emotions; your make-up routine is very different in 2020, and will probably make you feel all kinds of emotions. Appreciate the growth and the gruesome photos that prove how far you've come.

A fresh decade is beginning, which means new and exciting things to do to your face. It's ironic that this is a "trends" article, because I personally believe that makeup has never been about following the rules. More than ever before, makeup is about embracing experimentation and simply expressing yourself. Wear bright lipstick, try bold liners, and wear crystals and glitter when you feel like it. Why. Because you can do it.

I enlisted four celebrity makeup artists who inspire me with their boundless creativity to share their trend predictions for 2020. Ash Holm (open in new tab), Etienne Ortega (open in new tab), Keita Moore (open in new tab), and Adam Burrell (open in new tab) are stars of the Kardashian family, Paris Hilton, Ariana Grande, Iman, and Ava DuVernay. artists who have been on the roster. Notes.

Moore's favorite trend is glowing glass skin, achieved by mixing moisturizer, cream highlighter, and oil on the face. Moore says, "After moisturizer and before foundation, I use a strobe cream to create a luminous glow from within the skin.

"Also, use setting powder only on certain areas of the face to prevent the skin from becoming too oily."

R.I.P. to the days of painting your brows like your life depends on it. The wave of the moment is to embrace the no-brow, life-like, full-browed look. 'Eyebrows are becoming more brow-like and less cartoonish,' Ortega says. 'It's becoming fashionable to use an eyebrow pen to give them a beautiful, natural-looking shape.'

Burrell agrees, adding that the popularity of innovative brow treatments like brow lamination is making "Instagram brows" a thing of the past. Moore is also obsessed with feathered brows and uses a surprising trick: "I use soap to create feathered brows, which is an old-fashioned Hollywood trick," Moore says. 'I like to use a combination of a precise angle brush and a brow pomade to trace my brows like hairs. Then I rub a product called Soap Brows, which has soap in the container, onto the brows with a mascara wand to create a feathery effect."

Instead of traditional black eyeliner, Holm expects bright to see a lot of raised liner in bright colors. To create the eyeliner shades you've been dreaming of all this time, all you need is a white eyeliner pencil and a sharp angled brush," Holm explains.

"Gently press the bright eyeshadow into the shape you've created with the eyeshadow color of your choice.

Single-color makeup was the move of 2019 (opens in new tab ), what about the opposite? Intentional color blocking with vivid shades is another cool way to experiment with color. Moore recommends, "Have more fun with color by pairing blue eyeshadow with an orange lip, or a pop of green shadow with a pink blush." She added, "This look I created for Adut Aketch at the British Fashion Awards featured a brown lip, Urban Decay green eyeliner in Overdrive, Urban Decay Moondust shadow in Zodiac, and MAC Cosmetics' Extra Dimensional Blush in Wrapped Candy.

Ortega is also a proponent of more color. For a while," he says, "people were afraid to use color. 'I've always loved color and I love that people are starting to embrace it more. Whether it's a pop of color on the eyes or a bright lip on the bare eye, it's makeup. It should be fun and gorgeous.

You may want to start getting your makeup ready for spring. Holm instructs, "Using a soft blending brush, smudge a pastel pink blush or eyeshadow on the eyelid and eye crease. Use a blending brush to create soft, enveloping shades around the eyes." You can also use lilac or lavender eyeshadows," she says.

It's so easy and always magical, even if it's just pushing the corresponding glitter over eyeshadow or applying glitter along the eyeliner." "Makeup artists and makeup junkies alike, "Perhaps out of boredom, they are pushing themselves more and more," notes Burrell.

"There is no end to the warm, bronzy, textbook glamorous makeup we see every day. Negative space means leaving part of the eye unpainted, usually with a bold cut at the crease of the eyelid. But you can experiment with all shapes, lines, and colors; 2020 is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and getting creative."
