Prince Harry looks happiest in recent months amid reports of royal abdication, says royal correspondent
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's (open in new tab) departure from royal duties is nearly complete. This weekend, the Queen and Buckingham Palace took the next step in making the move official by issuing a statement (opens in new tab) detailing their new arrangement.
According to Emily Andrews (open in new tab), royal correspondent for The Sun (open in new tab), Harry has been clearly relieved since announcing his decision to step down from his role as the first active royal with Meghan. At a recent event before the queen's statement (open in new tab), Harry already seemed to have "a weight off his shoulders," Andrews says.
"I don't think he particularly wanted to go into Buckingham Palace gardens and be announced in front of the royal press, but I think it definitely looked like things were going well for him," Andrews added.
Andrews did not seem surprised by "Meggitt's" (open in new tab) decision, explaining that in his role as royal reporter, he had noticed how unhappy Harry had been for months.
"Certainly over the last year and a half to two years we've seen him really grumpy, sad, and in a bad mood. After all, nobody wants to be unhappy."
