The Jonas Brothers could have recreated a scene from "Camp Rock" and broken the Internet.
As a teenager with a heady mix of social anxiety, sweaty hands, and unfathomably awful hair, I can't fully appreciate the appeal of 'os nostalgia, but I can't deny the throwback (open in new tab) fun of the Jonas Brothers. But even the Jonas Brothers can't deny the fun: this time, the fictional band Connect 3 and its runaway lead singer, Shane Gray, are the protagonists of a classic camp rock scene.
If you've spent the past decade systematically deleting every single teenage memory, let me review it again: the 2008 Disney film Camp Rock, starring shy singer Mitchie Torres, played by Demi Lovato, and Joe Jonas The film centers on spoiled superstar Shane Grey (plus his brothers and bandmates, Jason, played by Kevin Jonas, and Nate, played by Nick Jonas). When Shane overhears Mitchie singing, he encourages her talent, Mitchie stands up to Shane's bad behavior, and the film ends with a lovely romance and a great performance (12-year-old spoiler alert).
Now, a 2020 reenactment posted on TikTok and Instagram: Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas put on terrible wigs and acted out an early scene from the movie. Is this too late for an Oscar win?
The Jonas Brothers have been playing the nostalgia game since their 2019 comeback; see this post shared to mark the end of the decade:
And they're no strangers to well-chosen recreations. Posted just before the release of their comeback single, "Sucker," and perfectly tuned to break the Internet, we can all take a minute to review and enjoy this clip. Okay, I'll accept it: not everything about my teenage years was bad.
