Why doesn't Beyoncé appear at the Grammy Awards?
This year's Grammy Awards were a mix of everything I love: recognition for songs that have been stuck in my head for months, sweet tributes to the greats, and of course, red carpet fashion. (opens in new tab) The only thing that seems to be missing is the Queen B herself, Beyonce Knowles.
The icon had four nominations tonight for her Lion King: best pop solo performance ("Spirit"), best pop vocal album ("The Lion King: The Gift"), best visual media song (" Spirit"), and Best Music Film ("Homecoming").
The short answer: we don't know why Beyonce decided not to accept the award tonight, but she must have had a good reason. Given that this evening is coming to an end, even Beyoncé would not be so fashionably late. In a recent interview with (opens in new tab) ELLE (opens in new tab), Beyoncé discussed whether she was sad that "Lemonade" failed to win any of the Grammy's most prestigious categories when it was nominated at the 2017 ceremony.
