The film made Winslet and DiCaprio huge stars, and it turns out that Danes has no regrets about turning down the role.

Appearing on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast, Danes explained that Titanic was cast shortly after he shot the 1996 film Romeo + Juliet with DiCaprio. I didn't want it. And today, she has "zero regrets" about her decision, explaining that "it was going to propel me into something I knew I didn't have the resources to deal with."
