In her post, Vanessa offered a tender and emotional tribute to her daughter. 'My Gianna. I miss you so much, I was so lucky to wake up to your gorgeous face and amazing smile for 13 years. I wish it had been that way until the end. Mom loves you.
She shared a photo of Gianna's jersey and said, "My Gigi. I love you! I miss you. You taught us all that no kindness is too small. Mom is and always will be so proud of you."
Photos and videos showed teachers and administrators talking about Gianna (a.k.a. Gigi) and the impact she had on the school, and basketball teammates and peers praising her. Her basketball coach explained, "In my 20 years of coaching basketball, Gigi was one of the fiercest competitors I've ever seen."
Giana and Kobe were actually on their way to a basketball travel game (opens in new tab). It is a devastating loss for the community.
