Julia Butters is only 10 years old, but she proved she's smarter than her age on the red carpet (opens in new tab) of the 92nd Academy Awards (opens in new tab). It was a major fashion moment for the child star, who won critical acclaim this season for her portrayal of Trudy Fraser in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

"Beyond excited to wear something special from one of my favorite designers on Sunday," Butters tweeted earlier this weekend, along with a photo of the Christian Siriano label (opens in new tab).

We fell even more in love with Butters when we learned during E!'s red carpet broadcast (opens in new tab) that the actress sketched herself a custom pink dress. But it was one of Butters' accessories that stole the show from her A-list design. The Golden Globes introduced a completely vegan menu for the first time this year (opens in new tab). Designed by Wolfgang Puck, the menu for the Oscars' Governor's Ball is just 70% plant-based, according to the Robb Report (opens in new tab).

When Joaquin Phoenix (opens in new tab) walked on stage at the Globes (opens in new tab) to accept the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for his dramatic performance as the villain in the comic book film The Joker, he gave his acceptance speech (opens in new tab) He surprised many when he began by thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for its progressive menu.

"First, I thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognizing and acknowledging the connection between animal husbandry (opens in new tab) and climate change."

"Making tonight plant-based is a very bold move and sends a really powerful message.

If Joaquin wins tonight, will he use his speech as an opportunity to call on the Oscars to do the same?
