Natalie Portman's Dior cape embroidered with the name of the female director.
If you thought Natalie Portman's Grecian-style black and gold gown and matching Dior Haute Couture cape were making a statement, zoom in. The actress explained to reporter Amy Kaufman on the red carpet that she had embroidered the names of the female directors omitted from this year's Best Director awards on the lining of her cape, saying.
The last names embroidered on the capes include: loreen Scafaria for "The Hustler," Lulu Wang for "Farewell," Greta Gerwig for "Little Women," Marielle Heller for "Beauty Next Door," Mattie Diop for "Atlantic," Queen & Slim Melina Matsuokas, Alma Haerl in "Honey Boy," and Celine Scamma in "Portrait of a Flame."
