Brad Pitt dedicates Oscar to his children
Brad Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor tonight for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pitt, who has been practicing his acceptance speech for the season thanks to his Golden Globe, SAG, and BAFTA awards wins (open in new tab) over the past few weeks, cracked jokes in his speech, thanked those he worked with, took political jabs, and in an emotional moment, gave a children He gave a shout-out to.
"This is for my kids. They color everything I do. I adore them," Pitt said as he walked off the stage with the Oscar trophy. Pitt has six children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie: three biological children, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox, and three adopted children, Maddox, Zahara, and Pax.
Pitt reportedly has a complicated relationship with at least some of his children; according to US Weekly (opens in new tab), after an argument between the two in 2016, "Maddox does not consider himself Brad's son." According to the magazine, Maddox has always been close to his mother. However, from the sentiments expressed in his speech, it appears that Pitt's children remain an important part of his life.
Pitt's friend and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" co-star Leonardo DiCaprio also drew praise for the actor's speech. 'Leo, I'll ride your coattails anytime. The view is great," Pitt quipped. It's hard to disagree with that. Frankly, we didn't need Leo and Brad's love story (kidding, we knew).
Oscar for this hug!
