Why Jennifer Lopez won't be at the 2020 Oscars
The moment the 2020 Oscar nominations were announced, the Internet went wild. Not only because there were no women in the Best Director category (opens in new tab), but also because Ms. Jennifer Lopez was robbed of a nomination for The Hustler. Thus, not being nominated in the awards ceremony (opens in new tab) means no J.Lo at the awards ceremony. 29 days (!) It still breaks my heart that a film shot in 29 days (!), with a great cast and message, received no love from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
In other words, the behind-the-scenes footage of the film that Lopez posted on Instagram makes me angry all over again. Look at her abs!
The bottom line is this: now that J.Lo has been eliminated, there is no reason for her to attend the awards ceremony. While she is more than welcome to attend the famous after-party (last year she attended a party for Vanity Fair magazine), the chances of seeing her strutting down the red carpet are pretty slim.
Also, after her electrifying performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, if I were her, I would be resting in bed until 2021. Not only did she and Shakira leave it all on stage, but Lopez also had a bit of a hustler's moment. (Open in new tab) During her performance, Lopez, in a glittery silver bodysuit, climbed a black pole, then did several twirls, ending with a *chef's kiss* on the horizontal bridge.
In a way, that show was the Academy Awards appearance we never got to see, and it delivered! I'm going to go back and watch it again, hoping I can get her body without having to go to the gym.
