Who is Kelsey Weyer, the star of "The Bachelor" Peter Weber's season?
Bachelor Spoilers One of the frontrunners for Peter Weber's season of "The Bachelor" (opens in new tab), which began filming last summer, is Kelsey Weyer. The pageant queen had been rumored by fans for her chemistry with Weber and her drama on the show (opens in new tab), including the "Champagnegate" made famous in the second episode.
Weber is from Des Moines, Iowa, and currently works as a hairstylist. She is Miss Iowa USA 2017 and according to her Miss USA bio (opens in new tab), "In 2013, Kelsey graduated early from the Salon Professional Academy in Iowa City, Iowa. For the past four years, Kelsey Anne Weier has been a full-time professional color and extensions specialist at Rick Mosley Hair."
Weier also shared her background in an interview with Miss USA (opens in new tab) about the person she admires most: "Sonia Heying. I nannied for two years before I went to cosmetology school. My nanny experience was different from others because my mother stayed home with me. Sonja had four boys, so she needed all the help she could get"
.
She also says on her LinkedIn, "Professional Closure for Tom James Company. Clearly all about fashion and beauty. Interestingly, Weier is a twin (open in new tab).
In the second episode, Hannah Ann Sluss and Weier are in one of their more eye-popping moments. In a move clearly orchestrated by the producers, Slass and Weyer opened a bottle of champagne that Weyer had brought from her Des Moines home to share specifically with Weyer. The two fought, and Weber took the bottle out for Weber to drink with him. Weber chugged the bottle and the champagne bubbles spilled all over her freshly made-up face.
A few episodes later, Weber started crying hysterically as Weber went on another date, and another contestant, Tammy Lee, tried to calm her down. (Weber cried, "No, it's not over!" She retorted, "This is... . not accurate.") Later in the episode, Rhee accused Weber of being "emotionally unstable" and further accused Weber of mixing too much alcohol and drugs. (Mental instability and alcoholism are not really things to speculate about, and Rae apologized.) (Opens in new tab) Worried that this would affect her chances with Weber, she went to see Weber alone with him. When Weber cancels the cocktail party because he has already made his decision, everyone blames Weber.
Basically, she has appeared in several situations where she is supposed to be the villain, but she is not the villain of the season and is generally popular with fans. Also, pretty much everyone has been a villain at some point this season.
